This project was a self-initiated design challenge focused on creating modern poster concepts for a Vincent Van Gogh exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art. There was no client or official prompt beyond exploring how classic artwork could be framed through a modern graphic lens. The goal was to merge museum level aesthetic with bold, modern visual treatments.
The posters were meant to feel fresh while still honoring the spirit of Van Gogh’s work. Each concept tested a different balance of color, composition, and scale to see how far the traditional imagery could be pushed but still be recognizable.
The process centered on experimenting with textures, overlays, and contrast to reinterpret iconic Van Gogh pieces in a more immersive and graphic style. The layouts were formatted with clear hierarchy so the exhibition title and museum branding stayed prominent even in more expressive designs. Color grading and compositing played a major role in building a consistent series across all variations.
Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator were used to refine each concept, from initial image treatment to final typography. The goal throughout was to create a set of posters that felt contemporary and museum ready while still capturing the emotion and movement found in Van Gogh’s originals.
